Dr.-Ing. Lorenzo Bortot

The research project is carried out at CERN, investigating the implications of the use of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) in high-field accelerator magnets for the future circular colliders. For the analysis purposes, dedicated numerical formulations and models are to be developed, in order to evaluate the magneto-thermal dynamics behaviour of such magnets. The output of the numerical models will support the design of the HTS-based prototype magnets the associated protection devices, and the superconducting circuits for the future accelerators, e.g. FCC.
