Parametric uncertainties play an increasingly important role within the simulation based design of electromagnetic components. Input parameters are modeled as random variables taking into account manufacturing imperfections and measurement errors. In this setting, fields are described by stochastic partial differential equations and their modeling and efficient solution is investigated in this research group.

Current research topics

  • Uncertainties in magnetoquasistatic problems with low-frequency applications
  • Modeling of stochastic magnetic materials and discretization techniques
  • Tensor methods for high-dimensional parametric problems
  • Stochastic spectral methods with adjoint error estimators
