Homogenization techniques are an efficient way to accelerate finite element simulations of stacks of conducting layers. These structures are found in many normal conducting and, more recently, superconducting applications based on high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes. Examples include foil wound transformers, superconducting coils, and superconducting electrical machines. The research project aims to formulate applicable consistent models and to implement them in an open source finite element library.
