The research deals with multiphysical modeling and simulation methods for magnetocaloric cooling technologies. Magnetocaloric cooling has the potential to increase energy efficiency by 40% compared to conventional gas-steam compressor cooling technology and to eliminate all direct greenhouse gas emissions. For example, magnetic sources will be optimized in terms of shape and distribution of soft iron, permanent magnets and magnetocaloric material to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
